These beautiful scarves were all woven by women in four different Guatemalan weavers’ co-ops. These co-ops give indigenous women a chance to learn a skill and earn a decent living and help to support their families, something that is very difficult for them in ordinary village circumstances. These women are skilled artisans and each co-op produces pieces with its individual style. The scarves are made from natural fibers (except for a scattering of mylar yarns in the first five), mostly cotton, but one co-op uses bamboo yarns.
